Purple Glimmer Sugar – I couldn’t resist picking this up in the supermarket! It stayed in the cupboard for a while until I came across a shortbread recipe which suggested shaping the dough into a cylinder then rolling it in Demerara sugar so that when each biscuit was cut from the roll it was sugar crusted. I followed the recipe but substituted the Demerara sugar for little lilac crystals and it worked well although I should have put some more on! Less is not more in this case!
