Fast, easy and a crowd pleaser with no baking required. Ideal if you need to make something after work to bring to a bake sale or for work birthday treats! I have set out the recipe from the Primrose Bakery book below.

70g unsalted butter plus extra for greasing

3 tablespoons golden syrup

6 Mars bars – chopped into small pieces

200g cornflakes

Grease a 20 cm sandwich cake tin with a bit of butter and line the bottom with greaseproof paper.

Melt the butter with the golden syrup on a low heat in a large heavy based pan, then add the chopped Mars bars. When the Mars bars have just melted stir in the cornflakes gradually until they are evenly coated. Press the mixture into the tin and leave to cool and set for at least an hour. When cooled turn the cake out of the tin and cut into slices.
